Thank you! It is not only for news. You can write about most topics. It is similar to an opinion section of a newspaper. To my understanding, they won't take fiction or poetry, but they will take most other content. There is an approval process. You can use the link in the story to apply. I highly recommend it. You can reuse Medium content, spread your message, and gain valuable feedback. You cannot however add 'call to action' text in an article (such as a subscribe link).
