It's still not poison. Your body can easily handle a single soda. I am not advocating for drinking soda, but demonizing an entire macronutrient is not helpful.

Sugar is vital for high intensity activity. Fiber only comes from carbohydrates (fruit is a great source).

If you look at trends, sugar intake has actually reduced over the past decade, yet obesity continues to rise. Excessive eating of any macronutrient is problematic. It's easier to overconsume sugar (ultraprocessed foods) but that doesn't mean sugar is poison.
