If your body is adapted, rounding isn’t dangerous. Many research studies show there is no ideal form or posture. Our bodies are highly adaptive and resilient. I agree that maxing out when the body isn’t prepared can be harmful, but a rounded back isn’t always dangerous.
If you want to build strength or compete in powerlifting, maxing out is necessary. The other consideration is enjoyment. So many people don’t exercise today. If hitting record numbers motivates someone to exercise and be healthy, then I’m all for it.
