All of these studies involve warm ups. The warm up duration differs depending on the load. It takes longer to warm up for a lift that is close to a 1 rep max than a 20 rep max load. The assumption is the warm up is taken care of. The studies focus on working sets as those matter most for results. There are separate studies that assess warm up routines.
